“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories… water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom.”
― Clarissa Pinkola Estés
I’m Jenny Comperda, the (mostly) free spirited adventure archivist and author of this website. The Dirt Diaries is my storytelling outlet for the wild side of my life. When I started doing a lot more camping and traveling I knew I had to document it, mostly so I can remember where I go and perhaps to inspire people to get out there and make their own travel stories. I don’t use a fancy camera (iPhone only) because I streamline and don’t like the bulk. I found that going into these adventures with the intent to document them brings a new level of awareness and presence to my traveling and my life. These are not detailed trip reports with mileage, altitude and other fancy info… just my bantering.
In the spring of 2014, I began the ultimate adventure. I made the highly anticipated jump and took a chance on myself and my instincts. I left Los Angeles, where I’ve called home and built my graphic design career for the past ten years, to expanded my horizons. I’m currently living in June Lake, California, gaining new experiences to guide my path in interpretation and environmental education. The journey is unfolding and shifting constantly and I’m definitely bursting into bloom.
Thank you so much for reading and following along.
